Allow Yourself To Grow, And See What Happens

When I first decided to open my stand-alone shop back in 2013, I didn’t know what I was doing.

Literally, I found myself google-ing all the errors I got at the configuration process. Didn’t know a thing about HTML, never ever had worked with WordPress nor knew how to maintain a website and all the things that you need to keep in mind to have it secure. Spend long hours trying to figure things out.

Because of this, I allowed myself to grow and started to take training, taught myself how to use photoshop, and joined as many groups related to a small business as I could.

I hated a few, and love A LOT of them. Even though, being part of so many groups wasn’t what I really needed. For those of you that own a small business know that finding your tribe is a complicated thing, especially in a field you know nothing about, you need to learn a ton of stuff quickly and those who have the experience don’t like sharing the knowledge. I quite honestly had no clue what I was doing, so either way, I started to reach out to people and ask questions. Some were annoyed, some were friendly, some became my “friends” to learn a few years later that they weren’t.

I can’t tell you how nervous I was launching my website for the first time. Everyone was going to see it! But you know what I realized?

It doesn’t freaking matter.

I realized that I needed to go all in and start making my way to the top. I participated on over 10 Auction Groups simultaneously and my name started to be recognized. Fast forward a little bit, the website started to have steady sells, became an admin in some of the auction groups, and when everything was ok – to my standard, Hurricane Maria came in 2017. Now is the time to tell you that I live in Puerto Rico. Having said that, the entire Island was devastated and we didn’t have power for 9 months.

I took the hard decision to take down my beloved website. It was a difficult decision but it had to be done. I wasn’t failing and I really didn’t want to do it.

Jumping the story 2 years, I open an Etsy Shop and the metrics were fantastic. Steady orders, happy customers, fabulous reviews. Now, I’m ready for the next step UP…

This is it! Our brand new shop is open and ready for business.

I did it!

In less than a week, I was able to pull this off! The Shop is looking amazing – if I can say so myself. The new template I designed is simply THE TEMPLATE and the collections are the prettiest.

Life can be difficult and things can get out of hand but who cares! So go out there and do stuff. Ask dumb questions (my web hosting service company can validate this), risk a little. Allow Yourself To Grow. I’ve found that most people won’t treat you bad at all, and will help you without asking for anything in return. (…and screw those who didn’t treasure your friendship!)
